Athens is a city full of history and energy. But, by walking through it, one cannot be blind to the suffering that goes through its underground.
The economic crisis of 2008 has hit Greece hard. The country is still struggling to recover. In addition, the large influx of migrants from Africa and the Middle East has increased the number of homeless people on the streets of Athens.
The presence of homelessness is unfortunately now part of the daily streetscape of the millennial metropolis.
